SERVICE OF SONG.
The Sacred Concert which came off on Wednesday evening last at the Methodist Free Church in East Street, was an eminent success. The sacred edifice was well filled, and at 8 o'clock, Col. Hicks, who presided by request, introduced the choir in a few appropriate remarks. Sans la musique, un État ne peut subsister, said the great Molière and perhaps Jamaica's discontents might be corrected if the Island had more music of the kind offered on Wednesday. It was of high character, and was executed throughout in a manner that reflected great credit on the young people of the choir and on the Rev. Mr. Roberts, their leader, who set to music for the occasion the hymn entitled "Suffer Little Children." The piece which drew forth greatest applause was that closing the programme, the Hallelujah Chorus from Handel's "Messiah."
